The River Reach Foundation is
a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection, promotion,
and enhancement of Farmington's Riverine corridors.
Riverine Art Project - Four art pieces
depicting the interaction of earth, air, fire and water along the
Animas River are being partially funded by the River Reach Foundation.
The sculptures include one entitled "Calendar," by Durango
artist Shan Wells, and "Wind Forest," a wind-reactive
mobile, which was installed at River Reach Terrace in Berg Park
in 1999.
The cost for "Calendar" is $14,000, donated by the River
Reach Foundation, Citizens Bank of Farmington, the Northwest New
Mexico Arts Council and an anonymous patron.
The project complements the city's Riverine Corridor Development
Plan to restore the Animas River and adjacent land to a more natural
state by commissioning artworks that call attention to the forces
of nature at work and add a spiritual dimension to the healing process.
The All Veterans Memorial Park, is located
along the banks of the Animas River. It recognizes the contributions
of all American veterans - past, present, and future. From the Revolutionary
War until the present, this park pays tribute to men and women who
served to preserve the freedoms of our Nation.
The intent of this memorial park is not only to Honor our veterans,
but also to Educate those visiting the memorial.

the Animas River at the end of Tucker Avenue.

The Flooded Animas!
In the spring of 2005, the Animas river was well above it's normal
levels. Many trails in Berg and Animas parks were closed when the
Animas River jumped from 3,500 cubic-feet-per-second on May 18 to
nearly 10,000 cfs on May 25.
Most of the formerly flooded trails were reopened on June 1, as
water levels receded.
